Is it getting hot in here?
Keep cool (or at least look cool) by downloading this month’s desktop wallpaper from our 2017 Talent Calendar.
For July we’re featuring a piece inspired by a little violin music mixed with a little longing for home: “The Loneliness of the Blue Violin” by our talent Jesus Garcia Anido.
Painting under the pseudonym “Chucho,” Jesus began his artistic training at a very young age under the watchful eye of his grandfather. Born into a family of well-known artists from the Cuban province of Las Villas, it’s no surprise that he ended up studying art and design at the Institute of Design in Havana. Since leaving home, Jesus has worked throughout the US and Mexico as a graphic designer, UX/UI designer, and fine artist.
Although he’s occasionally given up his brush for design work (sometimes for years), he says he always ends up going back to his roots. Working in oil on canvas, he finished his winning calendar entry in a little over a week.
Jesus loves creating landscapes and conceptual artwork about the political climate of his birthplace. He’s traveled extensively through Europe to study Renaissance artwork (he’s a huge fan of both Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo) and currently lives and works in his studio in South Florida.
If you love this piece on your desktop, be sure to check out more of his art at Chucho Art Gallery.
And please keep an eye out for our Call for Submissions for the 2018 calendar!
